"The Memories of the Mountains" by Ritaro Kigoro, Nihon Gakujin Zenshu Ritaro Kigoro was a pioneer in the world of Japanese mountaineering, having traversed mountains since the era of faith-based climbing. He is known for his exploratory climbing activities in places such as Okuchichibu, as well as setting record climbs in Mt. Tsurugi, Kurobe, and Joetsu. Ritaro Kigoro flourished during the golden age of exploration climbing when unexplored areas of the Japanese Alps were successively conquered. He is recognized for his pioneering climbs in Okuchichibu, the traverse between Mount Yarigatake and Mount Tsurugi, the first ascent of the northern ridge of Mount Tsurugi, and the ascent of East Sawagiri in the Fuefukigawa region. His work, "The Memories of the Mountains," is based on unparalleled ideas and an insatiable spirit of exploration, encompassing not only climbing records but also historical documents, ancient maps, the historical significance of mountain names, and mountain panoramas. This book, starting from the author's early mountaineering experiences and tracing his exploratory footsteps into the unknown, is composed of climbing records and memoirs arranged chronologically by climbing year. It includes travelogues and essays that were not included in "The Memories of the Mountains," arranged according to the author's life timeline. Although it is a second-hand book, it is in excellent condition.
